Christ's Mission to the World

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son." - John 3:16 – The Christian world mission is Christ's, not ours. Prior to all our efforts and activities, prior to all our gifts of service and devotion, God sent His Son into the world.

Christ's Mission for Us

"And Jesus came and said to them, go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" - Matthew 25:19 – The task Christ calls us to is an essential one: to be His ambassadors in the world.

Our Response to Christ's Call

In response to Christ's call, we go forth into the world.

Response to Earthquake in Haiti

First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue has chosen to work with World Vision to aid in the relief effort following the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti.  World Vision has a team on the ground in Port-au-Prince rushing emergency supplies to survivors.  The staff members there have mobilized to assess damage and casualties, and provide assistance.  Already they are getting out hygiene kits, water containers and water purification tablets to those they can reach.  A shipment of primarily medical supplies are at a Haitian port ready for distribution to benefit survivors of the earthquake.
World Vision has been working alongside the people of Haiti for 31 years.  Their staff in Haiti numbers more than 370 people, plus volunteers. They have experience responding to disasters worldwide.  Through your donations essential medical supplies can continue to be distributed to hospitals, blankets, cooking sets and tarps can also be distributed to survivors.

More information is available on the World Vision web site  http://www.wvi.org/wvi/wviweb.nsf/updates/F8196A3DF5AD333A882576AB006F1074?opendocument
