Please Contact Me about Deeper Impact.

WHAT IS DEEPER IMPACT?

Deeper Impact is the FPCB community reaching out into the Eastside community to establish Christ's community.  It is the fulfillment of Christ's challenge to feed the hungry, offer drink to the thirsty, befriend the lonely, clothe the ragged, look after the sick, and visit the imprisoned.  It is giving of ourselves, in the midst of the suffering, pain, and apathy of our neighbors, as a "fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God". (Phil. 4:18)

FPCB, in partnership with the Jubilee REACH Center, Eastside Academy, and KidREACH, will be identifying and sending PEERs and mentors to these organizations who will meet regularly with  individuals and families, offering support, encouragement, information, and resources to those who don't know where to turn.

FPCB will also establish a Resource Bank of people with useful knowledge and skills who will offer their services to help those in need, giving direction, advice, and healing.  If you have skills and experience in the areas of healthcare, law, finances, basic needs, counseling, or social services, please consider becoming part of this team.

 WHAT RESULTS DO WE EXPECT?

During this process, our neighbors will come to see Jesus and his radical, compassionate, life-changing faith.   We will all see social and economic justice; marriages healed; families restored; physical, emotional, and spiritual healing; and people finding Jesus as their Savior in the midst of this.

Be a KidREACH PEER

KidREACH is a tutoring program for at-risk children and youth.  While helping the children in our program, we've discovered that education is a safe entry point for families in need.  As we build trusting relationships with the families of our students, they reveal their deeper needs.  The PEER Family Support Program at KidREACH seeks to pair volunteers with KidREACH families in long-term, one-on-one deep relationships.  PEERs will help families navigate difficult circumstances by listening, encouraging, and connecting them to resources.  For many KidREACH families, just knowing that they are not alone can give them the strength to endure the hardships they face.  PEERs will not "fix" the families with whom they are matched, but will instead walk with them through the struggles of life showing love in the name of Jesus.

Be a Jubilee REACH Center PEER

Community Care is the effort of Jubilee REACH Center to come alongside individuals and families experiencing crisis to offer hope and help through caring relationships and continuing support.  JRC's multiple programs REACH out to the community and the commitment to "Love, Listen, and Learn" builds trust that allows people to reveal their deeper needs.  JRC's Community Caregivers are matched with "care receivers" and initiate, establish, and maintain PEER relationships with specific participants to provide Presence, Empathy, Encouragement, and Resources.  These PEER relationships are intentional, not incidental; continuing, not episodic; deep, not superficial.  They are not focused on "fixing" people or situations, but rather on walking with people through the realities of life, showing love and inspiring hope in Jesus' name.

Be an Eastside Academy Mentor

The purpose of the Eastside Academy Mentor Program is to mirror the image of Christ to at-risk students in one-on-one relationships that inspire change and build life skills.  Most at-risk students at Eastside Academy have never experienced a healthy relationship with an adult.  Many only know the heartache of broken trust, neglect, and abuse.  That's why the Mentoring Program at Eastside Academy is so important.  One of the main ways mentors begin to build their relationships with a student is by meeting for lunch once a week, usually on the school campus located in the FPCB Upper Campus Building.  Eastside Academy Mentors are a diverse group of individuals, but they have one thing in common - the ability to give hope because of their faith in Jesus Christ.

Be on a Resource Team

Resource Teams will be established around areas of skills and experience such as healthcare, law, finances, basic needs, counseling, and social services.  People who step up to serve on a Resource Team will be connected to others with similar knowledge, receive training and support, and develop communication systems for reaching those in need.  They will establish partnerships with the Peers and Mentors, supporting them in issues that are beyond their own resources.

Be a Deeper Impact Ambassador

Being a Deeper Impact Ambassador is an intentional commitment to nurture your relationships by loving and serving those who you cross paths with regularly.  It means imitating Jesus by putting the interests and welfare of others above your own.  It means sacrificing your comforts, conveniences, and preferences to walk alongside others through life's realities.  With Jesus' help, you can care more sincerely, listen more actively, speak more thoughtfully, feel more compassionately, and act more consistently toward the people you relate with every day.

It's Personal: Identify one person God is asking you to reach out to - then act on this nudge.
